As tiredness brings the dreamlands

And sleep finally wins

I really dislike them.

I do not enjoy receiving them

mainly because I get startled

and this upsets me.

Usually the telemarketers

can hear it in my tone when I answer.

Also I do not like making phone calls.

Unless it is someone I want to talk to

or have a reason to call them

I will avoid taking the time to reach out

for as long as possible.

So, um yeah I better get to that phone call.

Living Room Vacuumed?

Dishwasher run?

Check.

Laundry folded?

Check.

Activate new card.

Not….. check?

Where is it!

Oh no, now I need to clean my desk.

Check!

One day I will travel

all through this country of mine

and visit every capital city.

I want to see what makes

each so special,

so unique

and even better

so beautiful.

Every city has a different vibrancy

and not just because of its people.

The testaments that they have built

the monuments erected

and the legacy that our ancestors

wanted to leave behind.

 

When the dust bunnies

are no longer confined to under the couch.

When the kitchen is a never ending

task of dirty dishes and unswept floors.

When the bathroom has a funky odor

and it is not coming from the toilet.

When visitors stop by

and leave after only a few minutes.

When the fridge has more spoiled food

than good, healthy and nutrious stuff.

When the bugs fly up from the sink

every time you run the taps.

Thankfully, this is not my house!

Right?

Don’t read the news.

Stories of hatred and bigotry

line the articles.

The worst is they don’t even see the hate

that they have caused.

Choose a fantasy book

since the politics in there

doesn’t affect you personally.

Sometimes simple is best.

A complicated story works

when things go sideways

or reversed.

Then if it is  too complicated

you lose your readers.

Irony can be powerful tool

but used too often its annoying.

Sarcasm is funny

except when it goes too far.

Case in point

this poem.

 

I`ve tried to listen to the adults.

I felt bad when they would yell

either at me or just in general.

The guilt would make me wish to hide.

Honesty was a virtue

and yet if lying got me out of a lecture…

I was someone who guessed what they wanted.

I tried to be good.

Now as an adult

I am trying to be a good parent

and not put my children through the same crap

that I had to go through.

Instead I have given them other stuff to deal with.

But I am no longer a good girl.

I am a woman

and I won’t put up with your shit anymore!

Parents have preferences.

When one child exhibits

the tendencies and habits

of the parental unit

it is not surprising when the other children notice.

The problem lies

with which side is the favorite child

on politically.

Because then

you get told

-Well, I side with him!

in any disagreement.
