It is Milky out there.

As the parent
I must accept
that the child is my responsibility
yet her actions
are her own choosing.

is harder than it seems.

I know where the fault lies.
So I will accept
my participation
in the ensuing chaos.

that is to be dealt with
tomorrow.
I wish to reminisce
but find cynicism instead.
Sarcasm erupts while tributes flow.

Or must I wallow
in a fitful delusion
painfully aware
of the remains reality

Saint Valentine
was a man
like any other.
Yet because he rebeled
against the Roman leaders
was heralded a Saint.
Signing letters and sending them
“from your Valentine”
in honor of his deeds
is where the trend began for this Holiday.
Yet,
why do we celebrate Martyrs?
I will celebrate my love for the living
and remember,
respect
and honor those before
by being alive
and living my life to the fullest.
