Sweet and loving
The purr resonates in your soul.
Demanded by the cat
Relished by the human.
We are so blessed
to have such loving creatures in this world.
Sweet and loving
The purr resonates in your soul.
Demanded by the cat
Relished by the human.
We are so blessed
to have such loving creatures in this world.
We are all scared.
It has hurt us more than any other pandemic.
How can life return to normal?
Will our new normal be
living in a world where the plague could be caught
just by walking up the street
or one where we never see our neighbours again?
Living in the 1500’s were black enough
The 21st century should be a little more ahead of the times.
Don’t you think so?
A tall glass of wine.
A good friend to talk to.
A pet curled up next to you.
A warm fuzzy blanket wrapped around
And a fireplace crackling behind you.
Things some people have
While others can only dream.
It is like how some can eat
While others cannot find anything to feed their children.
Or clothe them
Or have a safe place to sleep.
One of the lucky ones
Where our thoughts are sent out electronically
Do we dare to set outside and help those around us?
Cloudy and grey
Rainy and wet
Cold and chilly
A few things do not add up.
The sun appears less these days.
Sneezing and wheezing
Sniffling and weeping
Dry eyes and runny noses
Flu season has arrived.
So grab your jacket
and go for a walk
because this will be the last one
of the better days before winter arrives.
And if it follows the rest of this year
It too will come early.
Are we able to throw anything away?
Clothes, shoes, magazines or other silly knickknacks.
Much of our closet is filled with doubt and self trepidation.
So much so that we can not put more in the closet.
So when we try
it explodes.
Then we cry
and try to stuff even more back into an already over filled closet.
Someday my closet will be empty.
But that is a dead person’s goal.
Until then if I’m lucky
I’ll have thrown out some of the trash that is hiding in there.
Nervousness and insecurity.
Both overwhelming common sense.
Hope that they do not pick him.
Certainty that if they do he will be fine.
Court summons are natural
and I was nervous the first time I got called.
Jury duty is a civic duty.
My son is now one of the honored ones.
Bullies love to intimidate.
They like to harass their prey.
Standing up to them takes courage.
Calling them out may seem pointless
yet it effectively showcases their aim.
I wonder what the bully feels
that made him into one in the first place.
Everything has gone wrong.
The fight today is no longer about a better life.
It is trying to survive a maelstrom of immediate threats
only to find out surviving might not be the best thing after all.
Yet succumbing is never an option
for the bully will only find a new target and move on.
Inability to focus
Worry about a new cough
Sneezes cause suspicion
Heat rises from the vents
Calls to the health link unsettles
Are we all going to die?
Yes,
but who is it that will die today?
He always has the best of intentions.
He means to follow through on what he says.
Yet, one thing or another prevents him from keeping his promise.
I have learned never to believe his words.
His actions are no better.
So when he says he will help,
he actually means he will watch me struggle
while giving advice that does no good.
I rage against his suggestions
because they are not what I need.
But then, that is why I left him.
He can never give me what I need or truly want
since he is incapable of doing the things he says he will.
I wish him well,
but if he continues to try to guilt trip me
over the children and COVID 19,
he will find out the hard way
why I no longer listen to him and his lies!
Studying a long forgotten story
The monsters rampage the world.
A chance encounter finds more subjects
As an old one looks over the shoulder.
Themes of disasters and woe
Permeates the attitudes of the order.
Whoever has the faith
Finds themselves a people forged in stone.
Flying on wings of fancy
Before the fall elevates the foe.
