I haven’t Written my Poem yet!

It’s Saturday.

I have time.

I’ll keep scrolling down.

That article looks interesting.

Oh, that is new.

I wondered about that.

Maybe this news item will be interesting.

I’ve already read that one.

Hah, so the celebrities say.

Yes, that’s important but so is this!

Wait, what time is it?

Oh, that explains my sore neck.

I should really think about what poem I want to write.

First I’ll look at this page

it seems like it would be worth reading.

Forever Uncertain

Even stone is worn away by water.

Water is always changing form.

Air shifts and flows naturally.

Fires can begin at the oddest moments.

All elements of this world suggest impermanence

so then why must we desire immortality?

Death and life walk hand in hand

so live as best you know how.

No matter how uncertain it feels.

Fall Behind

Playing catch up

is never fun.

All it takes is one more delay

and you are further behind your goals.

Preparations may have been made

but contingencies may not be enough.

Now the world is bordering on disaster

and we are no where near prepared.

Fall came Early

The leaves have already started changing colours.

The air is colder and the sun does not warm like before.

The birds are more vocal and demanding in feeding times.

Pumpkin Spice flavours have been released.

Who else wants climate change to change its tune.

I was hoping for a little more summer

since summer was taken away in this pandemic time.

Relationship with Death

Everyone has a different one.

Inevitable and unstoppable.

Life can be pain

But also joy and happiness.

Our end worries some

Almost into a state of dead numbness.

Others prefer to ignore it

Or pretend it will never happen.

Most people think about it

When they come clean we to it.

A loved one passes away,

Watching a stranger in an accident

Right before you.

A narrow escape of their own.

No one knows how or when

They will finish their story.

We may not like what has happened

But then again acceptance can be difficult.

Until then, love life and live.

And I walked

Into France I walked

In their streets I walked

And I walked in to Milan

Into England I walked

In their gardens I walked

And I walked in to Milan

Into Sweden I walked

In their mountains I walked

And I walked in to Milan

Into Italy I walked

In their cities I walked

And I will never leave Milan

Lizard Fit

Are you fit enough?

Can you move as lithely

Or do you need to tone your scales?

If not we can help at Lizard Fit.

Slither on in

And see one of our many claws

For the end of suntime sale.

Bask your tails and slim those gills

On one of our many rocking apparatus.

See you soon.

Don’t let the cold

Make you hibernate.

Almost the Weekend

Whether you are cleaning out the spam

or just cleaning anything out

getting ready for the weekend

used to be more fun.

Anticipating seeing friends

or doing activities with other people

was so lovely to look forward to.

Nowadays the masks cover their smiles

but it can not hide the eyes.

You can always tell by the eyes.

So if you’ll excuse me

I am going back to bed

so the tired, bagged and blotchy eyes are less noticeable.

I won’t read it

No one can make a horse drink

even if it is lead to water.

A flower’s petals will wilt in the fall

even if you tend it all through summer.

Time moves forward

even though we wish for a reverse.

Give me a book and tell me to read it

and I’ll look at you like you are daft!

Did I Already Do…..

The brain tricks itself

or backtracks and causes doubts to appear.

Where did I place my glasses?

Did I take my medication?

When was the last time I looked at my calendar?

Can I get away with not showering? Again?

Nope.

Ok, I did just take a shower right?

Didn’t I already cook supper?

I know I did last night.

Wait, that was two nights ago.

Maybe that is why the kids keep saying they are hungry.

Just kidding.

They are old enough to raid the fridge if they are hungry.

Now about that shower….

When was the last time I had one?
