Candy Not so Sweet

As a child I would dream of pop and chips

and chocolate bars and CANDY.

The sugar rush that I felt was everything

as I ran around with friends.

Now as an adult I find myself still craving candy

but ones that are less sugar filled, more flavorful.

I like the chocolate bars or straight chocolate

but not very often, only once in awhile.

Too much of a good thing can be bad.

Candy, is a treat and now I find

it lasts forever.

Especially if my kids don’t like it but I do.

Like black licorice. Yay!

When your Brain has it’s Own Ideas

The function of a body is to move the various parts

in a coordinated effort to do something.

Such as walking, or talking or waving hello.

Sometimes it can function with a minimal amount of direction

from the higher functioning organ.

Auto pilot for the trained muscles,

such as karate moves or driving the same route to work.

Your brain can worry at other problems

or simply daydream during autopilot.

Then the idea comes and impulses get out of control.

No, running away to Africa is a bad idea.

Yes it is minus 40 Celsius, but still!

The Problem is Me

What am I going to do with my problem?

I could have said my life

but that I already know that locomotive is crazy.

I have many problems.

Too many?

Or just the ones that drive me insane.

Wait, be patient.

The kids will grow up and move away.

Someday….

I hope.

The thoughts I have Lost

My ideas that are forbidden

based on society’s taboos.

Fleeting shower memes

that should be randomly discarded.

Personal opinions about strangers

and their shopping or driving habits.

The most dangerous of all,

the ones telling me how bad I am.

They have lost their weight

and as I gain my mental health

I strive for victory over the guilt

and self doubt.

Some thoughts will come and go

but the ones I know deflect

give me greater self control.
