Demon Cat

She is soft and cuddly

she looks so innocent

with her big eyes

in her tiny face

and yet

when she sees him

the male cat

she turns evil

and possessive

chasing and hissing

and scaring him away

from me

No longer are they friends

and it saddens me

All because

she wants me all to herself

Out of practice

When the mind forgets its normal routines

And the body relaxes more than it should

Oh does the world become loose

and unfulfilled by mere thoughts

of what should have been done

as opposed to what actually happened

Still good can come out of such weird juxtapositions

as routines become reminded of what is expected

and renewed energy is brought forth

from the mini home vacation

Proactive versus Reactive

Looking at the problems and not ignoring them

Trying to mitigate the damage before it comes

Finding possible solutions for when the inevitable happens

or

Hiding your head in the sand ignoring the problems

Waiting for things to happen and then scream “Help!”

Grabbing onto the first solution even if it is bad

The difference is what you struggle with

and where it leads you

Bad Ideas

Calling in sick

Not plugging in the vehicle last night

Keeping a healthy child home from school

Not eating supper for two nights in a row

Waking up and playing on your computer in the middle of the night

This is what moms who are sick do

Organized

It is useful and desired.

Chaos is beautiful

but not always welcome

unless treated as artistic expression.

When life allows you to function

at peak performance

staying on top of the chaos

can be empowering.

Yet sadly, too many fall victim

to the reacting to pressure

and not enough of the thwarting its dangers.

So, beware my friends of the temptation

chaos lures you with

or you’ll end up like me.

Desperately hoping for miracles

and not finding any.
