The first child to leave the nest
is always the hardest.
The most bittersweet
due to conflicting emotions.
Though you still a few remaining
she was the anchor
and so the dynamics
of the household will be changing.
She promised to stay in touch
but you know
all children outgrow their parents
and so you hold back the tears
as you watch her drive away.
Soft
Warm
Sleeping
Eyes
close
and
falling
back
to
sleep
easier….
A tangent appears
and off she goes
Racing for a minute
biased and opinionated
sometimes stopping to breathe
before continuing
and informing everyone
about the ideas in her head
or what the problems
of the world are
Listen, and enjoy
because they are delightful to hear
and you will miss them
when she is gone
Impatience demands it to be read now!
The unmistakable desire to know,
curiousity gains the upper hand.
So what happens when the next chapter
is unavailable!
Or even worse the next book in the sequel!
Patience is forced upon those who need to know
and slowly their brains will let go of the overwhelming
desire to know.
Until it comes out
and then the cycle starts over again!
When you are dancing
to the rhythms in your mind.
There is no longer an equal state
of being
or the awareness of anything else.
Who is to say the music heard
by only yourself
is unimportant
when that is what drives you to do your best.
Greatness awaits
and the beats keep you company.
Regrets are inevitable
When you dwell
On wishes
And the things
You lost out on.
Time is limited
Because that is what we create.
If we all learned to just relax
And enjoy the weather
Cold and blustery
Or hot and sweaty
We would find enough time.
But we never do.
The call
unexpected
Taken without thought
Offer the empathy required
Visit them if needed
Love them unconditionally
Have their back
because how often
have they had yours!
Time together
Eat, drink and talk
Listen to the stories
Get the connection
without the phones
No electronics
Help prepare the meal
Be present in the moment
And love thy family
even if they disagree
Fighting becomes a way of life
If all you ever know is us versus them
how can they possibly be humans?
The world crashes down
when society realizes that everyone
is a human being and controlling them
no matter how small
is wrong,
So lift everyone up
even if they are wrong
because in their eyes
you are the mislead ones.
I hide the controller
in places that are obvious
if someone actually is looking
yet it means the child
must hunt for it
before they can use it
