Always learning
never stagnant
Finding out unknown strengths
or honing previous ones
Time spent
in education
whatever form
is always valuable
Confidence
is the greatest skill of all

Patience is a virtue
and most of the time
I can distract myself
to look like
I am being patient.
But really
enough is enough!
Can you not just call me already!
Baked on
only to be scraped off.
Thought out
up until that point.
Attempting to remember
doesn’t help.
So go with the flow
as the baking goes on.
Just don’t ask
what flavour.
Unthinking
Gullibly
Foolishly
But never maliciously
or cruelly
would I do anything
to harm you
or put you in harms way.
When you care
and can do the punishments
required to motivate the child.
When the atmosphere
is conducive to making
that particular someone
understand
that smoky kitchens
are not what breakfast should be made of.
As thankful as you are
for the burnt food
things need to be cleaned
afterwards!
Getting up
walking around the house
What’s that smell?
and where?
Where is it coming from?
Is it a deposit from an unhappy cat?
but I did their bathrooms last night?
No, not that.
Is it the garbage?
Yes it needs to be taken out
but that is not it.
Huh,
what is that smell?
Oh, wait!
‘sniffs’ the couch blanket.
Found it!
Time for a wash.
And maybe get the teenager that sits here
to do so as well.
The warmer weather
used to mean
getting outside
and visiting friends
and going places
for fun.
Instead
we must stay away
from all the people
who are not in our household
and wave or walk away
so as to not
contract the plague.
Prescriptions issued.
Illegal or street drugs.
Pain relievers.
High or lows experiencing.
Transporting the mind.
Out of body flights.
Managing diseases.
Cleaning out the systems.
Bad or good.
There are drugs for use.
Stranger Danger.
Those are bad kids.
Don’t follow them.
Bad guys will take you.
You’ll never see me again!
Guilt,
Guilt,
Guilt!
Why are you scaring your child?
What happens if you become ill
or get hurt?
What will they do then?
Leave you to bleed?
Teach them instead to always ask you
before they can go with someone else.
Always know who they are with.
If someone offers them candy
they ask you first.
Same with looking for lost dogs
or even petting a dog.
Permission beforehand makes a better style.
Though,
Helicopter parents will never go away.
At least try to allow the child to grow up
guilt free, please!
You know you should care.
That it is important.
But you have no energy
or desire to continue
to keep nagging,
cleaning up after
and in general caring for another human being.
They can feed themselves
now that they are older.
Baths continue to be a fight
so the smell becomes familiar
until eventually it goes unnoticed.
This includes the caregiver.
Should a guest even arrive
outside is the only hosting venue currently available.
It is slow slide
but now a days it does not take much
to start rolling down the inclined hill.
