Tri-pointed Star

It floats across my vision

heralding the apocalypse.

Does it matter which one?

One is enough.

Never have I seen it be so sublime.

Now I really want to hide under a blanket

yet I am compelled to watch its beauty unfold.

Forgive me for the despair

and laugh when I am proven right.

Be forgotten.

Be mine.

A new Nemesis

A tuxedo waits outside the door.

The yowling begins as the quarantined one notices the sentry.

He is unhappy with the state of affairs.

Both cats tell each other of their dislike for the one facing them.

All I can do is wonder if this new enemy has chased off the old one

or if the King will have to live with both of them

upsetting his claim to his outside domain.

Renewing the Spirit

Vegging on the couch watching a show.

Cuddling with the cats.

Playing a game with a friend.

Talking on the phone with family.

Relaxing in a bubbly bath.

Sipping a good cup of tea.

Realizing that you need to do one of these things

And then doing it.

Or more than one works as well.

Added Tension

Movies I want to watch

but I’m scared of horror films!

I like thrillers that play with the mind

but even then I get scared.

Being scared usually ends up in nightmares.

How do people live with being scared

and not being scared of their nightmares?

I guess

I will

never

know

because

my nightmares

keep me up at night!

The Nip in the Air

That time of year.

Family getting together

for a celebration of thanks.

Watching your breath as it hits the cold air.

Kids are being schooled

and our lives are turning to indoor activities.

Yet we find ourselves walking the great outdoors.

The wind that whistles and blows the leaves around

make you feel like a kid again.

Fresh air.

It is a blessing.

Hard Conversations

Honest answers.

trouble in solving problems.

Where can help be found?

What is the next step?

Focus lost.

Apologies and desperate attempt

to avoid the tears.

Crying won’t help.

But maybe it’ll help let go some of the stress.

Until the next conversation.

Ethics in a Pandemic

Family is important.

Seeing and hugging members is crucial.

Yet a hug could be fatal.

Wearing a mask is vital to limit the spread.

Yet you can not eat properly with one on.

So where do you draw the line?

Go?

or tell everyone

sorry, maybe next year?

If they do not think the precautions are worth it

I would suggest seeing them through the computer only.
