Night owls nap in the day.

Early birds get up before the dawn.

I am not a bird

but napping seems like a really good idea right now.

I think I am more cat

since I like to close my eyes a lot.

In my head the music plays.

Unoriginal ideas that spark mediocrity.

A tune falters and flits away.

My voice can not give words their meanings.

Try as I might, even Karaoke laughs in my face.

Grumpiness is inspired

by sweating and anxiousness.

Lashing out is easier

when you can blame it on the heat wave.

I know all the terms.

The technical phrases.

The words that are used

are

meaningless

because the emotions behind them

are still raw and barely explored.

In order to heal

they need to be exposed.

Just like a broken blister.

In a line up.

For appointments.

Traffic lights to change.

Bad habits to die.

For the sun to kill us all.

Perspective is everything.

Back to the regular routine.

Body tired from the vacation.

I need a rest from my last week.

The memories made were beautiful.

Back home there is my coffee,

my children and more importantly

my cats.

Just don’t tell my kids that.

Going somewhere

Takes thought

And patience

When filling

The suitcase.

Even more

So when

You are

Returning home.

Without those

Tetris skills

You just

Might find

Yourself in

A pickle.

Time is doing the job of a lifetime.

Hang on to your words when exiting.

Find the bell and ring it’s luck.

Hop off the path when you’ve beaten it.

Delicious aromas waft by in coloured confetti.

Blind mice walk confidently around the harbour.

Return the favour once it’s used.

Be kind to yourself or you will be lost.

The only people in the world can kick their feet.

Have fun and rhyme your thoughts together.

On a vacation

Exploring and walking is wonderful.

Finding new things,

Places to eat at

Or just merely watching people pass by.

Until you look in the mirror

And see the red skin on your neck.

You take off your shoes

And put on bandages over the blisters

Caused from walking in old shoes.

Still, a vacation is a vacation.

Enjoy it while you can.

The story is unknown.

Thrown across like an afterthought.

What do the maids think

When they find the hotel guests

Leaving such surprises?
