Chameleon Cloak

How to hide

even when the enemy is colour blind?

Camouflage does not work

because it is based on colours of nature.

Magic only works if the audience

is willing to believe in it.

Someday, my brain will switch on

the light bulb needed

to actually perform the proper social tasks

currently being demanded.

Hard to Stomach

Trying to keep it down.

The emotions and the pain.

The virus causes discomfort

and the fact you can not do anything

does not alleviate the situation.

Instead, you have to hold it all in

and hope you can make it through the day

without getting fired

or puking on someone else.

Insecurity

Nothing I do is worthy.

Reading other people’s poems

tell me mine are not very good.

I can not turn a phrase

as well as those poets.

Yet I still strive to express myself.

Maybe some day

I will find the inner voice

that tells me

You are wonderful and unique.

Today is not that day.

Morning Visitors

The squeak of the door

Alerts them to our imminent presence.

Coffee in hand

they circle my feet

brushing up against my legs

wanting to be petted.

My cats are no so happy that these felines

have my attention.

Hopefully someday they can be friends.

At least I am friends with the neighbours

who own these friendly felines.

After a good chat

I step back inside and divert my attention to my two poor neglected kitties.
