It Smells like Fall

Middle of summer and that cool breeze is blowing in already.

The leaves are not turning colour

and the morning dew dries up quickly in the sun.

Yet the days are colder and the months seem shorter.

I wonder if it is just me

or if this is in correlation with an early spring?

I can still sit outside in the morning and sip my coffee

and that is good enough for me!

My World, My Life

Things are constantly changing.

People grow up

get older

and still society remains the same.

Universal truths

that the new generation have it easy

are lazy and do not understand their elders.

Always spouted

but the next set of adults will be our future leaders

if we give them time.

One Hundred and Eighty

The dollars and cents

do not amount to much these days.

Temperatures range out of the comfortable

or even the livable levels.

People mingle while still trying

to maintain the social distances required.

Degrees of success

or simply a turnaround?

Days counted since the last time

you actually touched another human.

Times you have prayed or beseeched

a higher entity for these times to end.

Simply a number.

Mail Theft

They are getting bolder these days.

Walking up and taking unguarded parcels.

Or riding their bikes through the townhomes

checking every mail box for the good stuff.

The postal workers can only do so much.

The rest is up to us.

Revenge through an exploding dog poop parcel

may seem sweet,

or stinky

but I would recommend asking them in for tea.

That usually makes them run away faster

than you would imagine.

Love is Natural

So is hate

but they are not the opposites

that many assume.

Love is counteracted by disappointment

and grief.

Hate is undermined by empathy

and understanding.

Which is why

ignorance may be bliss

for those who love to hate.

Ignorance it seems is more powerful these days.

Flowering Cat

The plant has grown

and a full grown feline has emerged.

Sitting so pretty

with eyes as big as the moon.

Treats are demanded

as she licks her paws clean.

Then you notice

the shriveled plant underneath.

Maybe this is why

that plant isn’t doing so well.

If some kitty keeps sitting on it

no wonder its crushed!

A new Nemesis

The scents are different.

New and exciting.

Walking around provides clues

as the Thunderstorm

announces it imminent arrival.

Then he spots him.

His nemesis sitting there

on the back porch.

Beside the gray male is the new cat.

Pure white and female.

His nemesis has a new girlfriend.

Out numbered now

my cat knows a

retreat is in order.
