Phone calls.
Video conferences.
Once so alien a concept.
Now more common place.
Yet, the stigma still remains.
Phone calls.
Video conferences.
Once so alien a concept.
Now more common place.
Yet, the stigma still remains.
When it lingers.
You do what you can,
but it still takes up the energy
you wish you could use
for more important things.
So you push yourself
even though you won’t get better.
But life doesn’t care.
It still moves on
and being sick
only means that you lose more time.
For yourself
and for your loved ones.
Puns are dumb.
Laughter is contagious.
Pranks are awful.
Yet we do them anyway.
Humour is seen as sexy.
Just don’t let the twisted version take control.
Too many jokers and we won’t be safe at all.
I know he is sleeping
From the snores
Emanating from him.
It is the full throat noises
-no words-
Where I can almost make out
what he says in his sleep.
Still, I envy him
As I lie awake
Listening to him
Unable to join him
In his night conversations.
Whether in a game
Or in real life.
It can be devastating.
Running away.
Hiding in the basement.
Scared of the monsters.
They make no noise.
Then you see their claws.
Reaching for your leg.
The pressure from their grab
is like 4 pointy stingers.
Yet, they don’t hurt?
Wait, the pressure is now on my stomach?
Oh, good morning.
Cat breath is a wonderful scent right now!
Just when life looks like it is going better
something comes up
to remind you
that life sucks
and that happiness truly is fleeting.
I wonder why pain never seems to go away?
Notices that cause panic.
No matter how trivial.
Things a procrastinator hates to hear.
If only things could be done on their time schedule.
Sometimes they are.
Other times… they are not.
The teasing false spring temperatures
fool us before the next freeze.
If only we could know for sure
that the actual spring was coming soon.
Climate change makes me sad.
Winter makes me sadder.
I open the page to write.
I get up.
Make a coffee?
Perhaps a bite to eat?
I wander the kitchen.
Do a couple of chores.
Then when food and coffee are ready,
once again I sit down
and maybe I’ll compose something brilliant!
