Status Quo

When you are spending time

with your ex-boyfriend

and wonder if you are “just” friends.

What happens when he no longer wants

to hang with you?

Would you want to return to being

a couple again?

Why does he think he has your

undivided attention?

Are you still in love with him?

Do you yearn for the day

he says he wants more

or are you fine with the status quo?

Time Watching

Time moves at its own pace.

Never too slowly

and never too fast.

We as humans perceive the passage of time

as a fault or the enemy.

Never fast enough

or way too fast.

Never do we relax and just enjoy the moment

when time passes in its own accord.

No Words From this Mouth

Nothing is right.

No thoughts form properly.

Can I be coherent?

Mumbling is my main communication pattern.

I do not want to think.

I want to crawl back in bed and curl up,

hiding from the world today.

Depression hits me hard.

Perseverance drains me completely

and it is only the beginning of the day.

Going into Debt

My Financial Woes are Legendary.

I may be better off than others I know

but I still struggle mercilessly to survive

and provide for those reliant on me.

When I thought things looked up

all I have to do is look at my bank account

and then I’ll start to cry.

How Quickly it Goes

Money, Time, Energy.

Nothing is forever. Nothing.

So what do we do.

Build a monument

that hopefully will last?

A book about our times

that may end up a classic?

What about loving your life

and those that are in it?

Comfort is our enemy sometimes

making it harder to break free of the norms.

If nothing lasts forever

what about today?

What shall we do today?

Obligation Smash-Up

Conflicting events

sorted out to a minimal disturbed schedule.

Promises made

should be kept if you are to keep the trust.

Panic may ensue

while the conflict remains unsolved!

Can the hero arise

to save the days planned activities?

Or shall a crumbled

and crumpled child be found wailing in disappointment?

Hereditary Fear

When the parents express

a dislike or hesitation around

a thing, an animal or a person

their children learn to do the same.

No one is born hating someone else.

All children love each other.

Especially those that are different.

As adults we need to learn to look

at the world like our children do

and love just like they do!

Mental Health Sick Days

Calling in sick to work,

if you do not have a cough

or rough sounding voice,

it is assumed you are playing hooky.

What if your mental reserves are so low

you would be a detriment to work?

What if your emotional capacity is not functioning

and does not allow you to empathize with other beings?

What if your depression…?

What if your anxiety…?

What if a panic attack….?

What if?

What if people could see how debilitating a mental illness truly is

without having to experience it themselves?

Empathy is a skill

Coaching someone to be their best

requires empathy and understanding.

Any child reacts badly

to being yelled at for their faults.

Years of embedded habits

rear their ugly heads

when you try to be empathatic

instead of just angry.

Courses can be taken though

to help you see

that empathy is a skill

that can be taught.

That is why I know it is so hard to not just give in and yell

but instead to just listen.
