September’s Dove

It is not white.

It calls out to the forlorn.

The ravaged leaves of fall

crossing with the winds of the North

bring the Dove to Earth.

It calls to the lonely

and gives comfort to the wicked.

But its beauty is not to be seen

for the wings of destiny

cannot be undone.

Herding Cats

Is sometimes easier than getting the children

out the door at the same time.

One invariably forgets something.

The other doesn’t want to go.

Finally convinced another needs to use the washroom.

By the time they are all in the vehicle

it is time to head back home

from whatever errand or school day you began with.

RedNeck Immigrant

Driving the bright red pickup truck

with the words splashed across the back window

displaying your status and ideology.

Are you a Liberal or a Conservative?

Does it really matter?

As long as you love your family

and your country.

Though I will wonder who will you vote for on election day?

A Day Lost

The time went so fast!

All the things needed to be done!

All the fun that had to happen!

Swirling around busy as busy can be.

Something was forgotten.

Maybe two or three…

but memory reminds and the day was not wasted.

Lost to the pressures of things to be done

but useful and happy it has been.

Way too Sweet

Children love to eat the candy.

Sweets and other treats delight them.

When does it become too sweet to eat?

If you listen to your bodies and not your feelings

you will hear that treats are exactly that – treats!

Too many sweets and stomach aches later

the lesson is learned.

Except for chocolate!

I will always have room chocolate!

Experience

Watching them as they learn the hard way.

Sympathizing with their frustrations.

Letting them experience what you already learned.

Words have a huge impact but nothing

prepares them more for the world

then letting them learn first hand what life is actually like.

It breaks the heart as they figure things out

but you can only prepare them for so little.

The rest is up to them!
