History Lesson

Without a lesson in the past

how can we understand the future?

The mistakes made can radically affect

the current decisions.

Alas, some see the defeats

as victories and thus emulate the tactics used

and the world find history repeating itself.

Distractible

A butterfly floats by

and then a truck zooms past.

The rains splashes down

as the light reflects the outline

of a face in the window.

The TV blares out sounds

while the radio murmurs static.

A day has gone by

and I don’t remember what I did!

My thoughts

Sometimes are random.

Or other times focus to much on one thing.

Usually there is a song stuck on loop

and I find myself either trying to remember

the lyrics or foolishly change them.

Every now and then

I have a brilliant idea

and if possible I act on it.

Most times though

I usually end up humming along to the song.

Old Bad Habits

It is so easy to do what you have done before.

The rut is so deep and hard to get out of.

Falling back into the comfortable rythms of past routines.

Change is difficult when it is not just yourself

you have to worry about.

How can you be a positive influence

when you can not manage your own inclinations?

Someday things may change.

Just not today.

So Soft

You pet the fur

it is so silky.

The chin scratches

have them purring

with delight.

The length of the fur

does not matter.

All of them is so soft.

Though the ears

are a special kind of softness.

One which if you are privileged

enough to be allowed to touch

shows how soft

soft can be.
