Am I sick

Woke up with a sore throat.

No masks can I make.

My nose sniffles but not always.

No testing can I take.

Is it the pandemic virus I’m scared of?

Or can I pretend that it is fake.

No going out for this possible carrier

so I guess I better go back to baking.

Fleeting

People think of things that seem permanent.

Statues in their honour.

Names and faces to live on after you are gone.

A palace built so grandly.

A place of worship for people to journey to.

A story or song written because of you.

So why then does

A friendly wave that goes by so fast

and yet is most remembered?

The smiling face that filled our hearts

and helps others endure the hardships.

Permanence does not last.

15 minutes of fame

and then who remembers you now?

Sore Mama

I complain about the cold

I complain about the aches

I complain about the pains

I complain about the kids these days

I complain about the weather

I complain about the heat

I complain about the current situation

I complain about politics

I complain that I am not yet 50 and yet I still complain

Back to Normal

Is it going to be awhile?

Do you want people randomly hugging?

Sneezing and coughing in your vicinity?

A plague upon our people

Or should we let the frogs loose?

Locusts and a river of blood

have been the focus in a holy book

but can we avoid them this time?

Normal is not normal.

Our global community is our new world

and our normal means keeping the planet

as our main focus.

So what do you do for normal these days?

The Good Ol’ Days

When plague stones were needed

for the fear of farmers not wanting to get sick.

Get towns and city folks still need food to live.

Vinegar in the basin

for the coins to be dropped in.

Fished out by the farmers

who would leave the food close by

after they’d been paid.

Our homes now are things we are trapped in.

The sun still shines.

Farmers still grow food

and our money needs to be cleaned once again.

Workshop Reduction Load

No classes to attend.

No appointments to fulfill.

I wonder when my next cancellation

will be added to this bill.

No wonder all my thoughts

turn round and round again.

I found out only yesterday

My wonderful seminar has already began.

Now if I was running all these classes

I would try to be in the Bahamas.

Since everything is now online

and I usually sit here in pajamas.
