The delectable scent
of Coffee wafts through the pre-dawn light.
Only one who truly loves you
will bring you that wonderful mug
while you are still in bed.

I’m just so tired.
I’m old.
Yet the injustices continue.
Time to get my phone
and call them
asking why my bill is high!
This is not a phase that reverts back to menstruation.
It is wrong to think of it as a pause.
It is a joyous welcome from a burden nature placed on women.
It should be Menofinale.
Since it brings a freedom to those who no longer bleed each month.
Pre menopause is not fun.
But once through that time,
believe me,
your life begins anew.
Tired is a problem.
It does make moving more difficult
and unwanted,
Things and errands need to be done.
Yet, I know they will be accomplished.
Just not very quickly.
It has been a month
of vacations,
sickness,
visiting people
and having fun.
Now I am ready
to just get back into the schedule
I was used to
so that one day soon
I can see my best freind
and just hang out with them.
Sweltering turns to freezing
and back again
when the air conditioner fails once more.
If only the temperature stayed the same
we have much boring lives.
Though I would like it a lot somedays.
She comes running as soon as I walk out my door.
I sit down in my chair and she is demanding pets.
Meanwhile my two cats sit watching me
as the neighbour’s feline has her way.
Still, I know they love me and they know I love them.
Just somedays when coffee in hand
the morning comes and I sit outside
All I want is to enjoy this life.
Sometimes
It all comes at once.
Things that hurt you
while others are extremely joyful.
Most weeks are this weird mixture of both.
Sorry, I thought it was just gas
blowing out of your nose.
Do you ever have a good time?
Thank goodness,
I’ll never be left alone in a room with you.
Arrogant? Aggressive?
I think you mean Assertive
since you obviously can’t handle
a woman smarter than you.
It takes a village to raise a child
is an African saying
or so I am told.
It is true though.
Children are not just little versions of you.
There is the other parent
and their parents.
Your siblings and their families.
Your neighbours and your friends.
And then there is you.
You must learn to let go
because you will have to share them with the world.
