Unlimited Lives

An oxymoron at its finest.

A term gamer geeks live for

when their game gives you an hour of them.

Still, the lives end when the hour is up.

Are all our lives at an end?

Is our hour up?

Gamer existentialism.

Sooner or later the game will end.

But real life demands we live our lives

like we have no limits.

Our unlimited life is one we choose to live.

Not when our hour is up.

Fight of the Century

It starts off slow.

A simple question.

A defiant answer.

Voices rising.

Consequences stated.

Consequences not effective.

Tears and recrimination.

Anger as curses explode.

A door slammed.

Quiet for a moment

while crying is heard behind the door.

What does it take these days to get this child to attend online classes?

That answer is one I do not have.

Too bad I have no liquor to spike my morning coffee with.

I could use a relaxant right now.

The Dream

It was a party for him.

His birthday, promotion, whatever

it was to highlight him.

There were speeches.

He spoke as well.

He was moving away.

He did not tell me.

He gave me a note and gifts.

I kissed him laughing saying we will talk later.

I sat down to my meal

only to realize shortly thereafter

he had left.

He had put his hat on

and left.

Without saying goodbye.

I got up from the table

grabbing my jacket and left myslef.

Only to cry when I reached the buildings doors.

It was my nightmare,

my greatest fear.

That he will leave me

without saying good bye.

Swimming the Stream

So many articles.

Should I read this one?

Oh, really I didn’t know that!

Aw, how cute. That cat is adorable!

Politics make unhappy, yet I need to stay up to date.

I wonder if I should try this.

Bad advice is just bad. Why do they continue to publish this!

Maybe I should stop and get some work done.

Oh, wait!

Now that is something I would never have guessed….

Nightmares

Always the same in theme

Running

Running

Running away from danger

But why is the contents

of my closet

in my childhood room

and why do I need to pack all of it?

This paradise vacation is not worth it.

Though judging from the dust bunnies

under the shelves

maybe it will all still be here

if we can come back next year?

Wait,

Running

right

got to get away…
