A camp fire has nostalgia.

Roasted marshmallows or hot dogs.

More adventurous

perhaps burgers

or even a steak.

The smell of smoke

from wildfires raging

is not the nostalgia

I would wish to remember.

The burning in my lungs

makes my eyes water.

I’m feeling sick.

My stomach hurts.

Arms feel like noodles.

I don’t want to throw up.

My head hurts.

Can I stay home from school?

You don’t have a fever.

Go lay down.

I’ll check on you later.

Poking the boil,

Lancing it.

Opening up the puss filled wound

in order to drain it.

Cleaning it out

so you can actually move on.

It causes you to be tired.

Sluggish.

Unmotivated.

Distracted.

Worst of all, grumpy!

Fried or baked.

Small or large.

Thick or thin.

Sweet or savoury.

Yummy in the tummy

and now I really want some.

I would have if I could have.

I could not so I did not.

But if I did I would have.

Check list made.

Ready to go.

Turning back as things left behind were remembered.

Turning back again.

Once more we turn back for the last time (we hope).

Laughing, because this is what memories are made of.

Still, it was a good weekend and friends make it all worthwhile!

But nonessentials like the grapes and olives and candles

will definitely be Not forgotten next time.

Maybe.

Cats are more intelligent than most people think.

They are very affectionate

and with love and care

are very loyal animals.

I say this as I start counting

waiting for my cat to decide,

inside or out?

He knows when I hit 5

I make his decision for him.

What’s to see?
Blurry outlines or far away skies.

Can we live without sight?

Yes.

But do we want to live without seeing?

Sometimes there are things we would rather not see

so not having your glasses

can be a good excuse.

Whether in the sea

or on land

every place is beautiful

and unique.

The corals are homes

and the beaches too.

The forest hold life

and we embrace the way nature should be.
