Some days

Splotches of colour

Are all you want.

Other days

It is all about the details.

Brakes are failing.

The cat is losing weight.

Income is not happening.

Yet, happiness still happens.

There is always joy in the little things.

Not ever.

No changing my mind.

I have to do this first!

Please stop!

Go away.

I’m not listening….

No.

Not now.

Maybe later

When you are done whining.

To be myself.

Be comfortable in my own skin.

Love myself and who I have become.

No more crisis’

No more distraught phone calls.

No more Worries.

Please, no more!

Unless I’m swimming

I have found

When the heat

Gets too much

All I want

Is a wet towel

Cooling down my back.

Repetition and practice.

Time well spent.

I cannot regulate.

So routines created.

Tasks are done.

Then pleasurable rewards.

Some days easier.

Others are not.

Promise I made.

Held accountable.

Must work.

Get something done.

Time comes

when another report is due.

Emotionally distance parents.

Undiagnosed ADHD.

Poisoned marriage.

Special needs children.

Potential wasted.

Therapy unlocked.

Cats.

Friends.

They saved my life.

Blaming him.

Wanting escape.

Depression wins.

Kids lose.

Self erosion.

No turning back.

Until sun shines again.

Watching them play

Brings me joy.

It is simple, honest fun.
