Any Apocalypse and I won’t survive.
Zombie, Disease Infection, Nuclear Attack, etc…
I would try to survive if I wasn’t one of those immediately killed off.
I would try.
But the Zombies would get me.
The Disease would spread through me.
The scavengers from the nuclear fallout would kill me.
In none of these scenarios would I live.
So in a war
what side truly wins?
The answer lies in the dead
but you never listen to someone
once they are no longer living.
It is simpler to reason.
No more should I do it or shouldn’t I?
It all boils down to
Do I want it?
If yes, take it.
If no, ignore it!
Once thoughts are involved
then so are morals.
We all know morals lead to society
and, well, humans are social animals.
The chances are high for both.
Work must be done.
Yet sleep still calls me.
My household needs me.
So I know what I should do.
My body resists the demands of the mind.
The snooze button has been hit for the last time.
Alarm turned off
and lets see what the day has in store!
All the same ingredients
as a regular cake.
Eggs, flour, milk, etc….
Except you can make them in a pan
and eat them immediately!
You can make them thick or thin.
They can be small or large.
You can even make only a small number of them
or
one
HUGE
BATCH!!!!!!
Being able to do absolutely nothing.
Not being required to care for another individual.
Having the luxury of time to yourself.
Resting and Relaxing in a quiet space.
Sometimes five minutes alone with your thoughts will do.
Other times a day off is pure bliss.
Coughing makes your presence known.
They are running late.
Whoever said “A man’s best friend” lied!
He was my best friend.
The one who killed him was not the other dog.
It was the cruel individual who used him for bait.
He was stolen from my yard.
Found dead from his wounds on a highway north of the city.
He has not been the only one found there.
A few were lucky to survive.
Traumatized but alive.
But dogs are resilient and will learn to love again.
Footsteps echo along the corridor.
I turn to look up and see the one murders for the first.
It will be an ugly trial but I am here to make sure justice is done.
My dog deserves it!
