The struggle takes a toll.

I know enough to know

I am consciously incompetent.

I can get through most of the tasks

of setting the child up for online learning.

I know enough to almost succeed.

I also know when it is time to give up

and ask for help.

HELP!

They refuse to cooperate.

Pills are not being taken.

Threats were issued by them

with counter threats were stated by me.

Homeschooling your child is exhausting.

So please God, Allah, Yahweh or whatever celestial being is out there

Please give me the strength to not harm this child

and the patience to endure this long and difficult day

Days?

Oh god

days!

Walking is good for you

So is actual exercise

These days I get up from bed

and then lie down on the couch

I feel so drained

and cooped up

and full of sadness

and despair

the only exercise I get

is letting my mind roam

while dreaming of a better future

It started so innocently.

A friend recommending a game.

Yet I can not put my phone down

As I maneuver my figure through the obstacles

and fail or succeed at the tasks given.

The warning on my phone says battery is low.

I ignore it.

It goes dead,

therefore I look up and see it is 2 am.

Sigh, sleep is my only option left

so sleep I will.

Until tomorrow when my phone is charged again!

Means social distancing

to the max!

NO talking to anyone

not even the neighbours.

Unless by phone or shouting

through the walls.

Social media plays

a more and more important part of the day.

So after cleaning the house

again

– maybe-

I can relax and watch other people panic.

It is a snowy, blizzardy day today

the kind that makes you want inside to stay

Warm blankets and a warm mug in hand

Curled up with a book is the plan

So no need to go outside

I’ll have my fun right here, besides

the quarantine would not let me anyways.

She is unhappy with this horrible thing around her head.

There is no chance for cleaning herself

And worse her water bowl gets her head wet.

As funny as it is to watch her eat

Sympathy also reigns the emotions

While she tries to navigate the room

And can not help but bump and knock over everything!

Two out of the five days have passed.

Soon my dear girl, soon you will be free again.

Hey baby, wanna go self isolate with me?

I’m a real Charmin guy, wanna feel how soft?

Kirkland ain’t got nothing on me, I’m Royale baby!

I’ll help you think Covid is over, as long as your the 19!

My throne room only has the best baby, it’ll wipe you off your ass!

So what do you look like under that face mask or would you rather make me cough?

Humour isn’t the only thing to get you through these times but hey facetime guarantees you won’t get anything communicable.

 

It has affected me!

Worse than usual this year!

Maybe because I CAN’T go out!

I CAN’T get away!

I’m locked inside!

Trapped with them!

Normally they go to school,

but now

NOW

they are stuck,

Stuck Inside!

with ME!

Survival of the fittest

is about to be tested

once again Darwin!

Unassuming.

Bland.

Simple platitudes

and remarks sprinkled throughout.

Boring and mundane.

Could be sent to anyone

by anyone.

But being creative and

writing something yourself.

Well,

that is just work!
