Oops

When you remember

something

that you were supposed to do

and forgot about

can be humbling

or merely

painful.

Though

as tough as it is

admitting

mistakes

can make you feel better.

So

sorry

I forgot to post

my poem

yesterday.

School Hiatus

Life throws curve balls all the time.

A year of schooling needing to be repeated.

Or semesters lost due to mental health issues.

Unable to afford going back is always a challenge.

What is the way forward?

Lesson learned.

Take the hits and keep moving forward.

Life is not all about classrooms

but sometimes they are the most fun ones.

Was it just a dream?

Arms outstretched

Trying to cover him

As I stare into the eyes of his father.

He sleeps

The nightmare shuddering through him.

I plead

beseeching his father

stop hurting your child.

He did all he could to help you.

He hurts from the guilt that he feels

from thinking he did not do enough already.

Leave him alone.

Let him heal.

Shouldn’t a father want what is best for his child?

Help him!

Please help him!

Tears run down my face

waking the sleeper up.

He asks why am I crying.

I look up

and his father’s ghost is gone.

I tell him I had a bad dream.

Cohorts

Early morning rise.

Coffee in hand.

Back porch.

Listening to the magpies.

Watching the pigeons.

Missing my friends.

Time to check in on one of them.

If things seem normal it is an illusion.

But that won’t stop me from enjoying it.
