The Classics

The agora is filled with merchants.

A philosopher orates his lesson for the day.

Wine is given to the thirsty man.

The temple pillars stand straight and tall.

Flowers are woven into garlands

and then lain across the statues.

Salty sea air wafts up from the harbor

as I overlook the waters from my hotel balcony.

Fellow tourists wear their colourful outfits

filling the streets on this festival day.

I smile in anticipation!

Management

What terrible things can I do today?

Make a child laugh?

Or sell some ice cream?

Give an old lady help across a street?

Try to finish my crossword puzzle?

I could donate my time to charity

Or better I could sleep in

and miss going to work!

The spike

It pierces between

the eye and the skull.

A pain so sharp

it feels unending.

I close my eyes

and the pain continues.

I sip my coffee

and it seems to slightly abate.

The child screams

and the headache comes back

Full force!
