How I wish it were that simple

To know evil

and merely combat it

without all the grey areas

that surround me.

 

The regular worries

of responsibilities forgotten

as talking and laughing

and game playing

were happening.

I relaxed.

I enjoyed myself.

I am glad it is over.

And I look forward to the next time

I can see my friends again.

Worries compounded

Stress doubled

Ability hampered

Faith wavering

Senses dulling

Fear not as constant

but still there

Age is a number

but being a child at heart

does not always mean happiness

 

Overwhelmed

Confused

Uncertain as to what to do

The situation is unexpected

and so research

and understanding are needed

Alas ignoring it only makes it worse.

Such a delicious sinful delight

Each bite pure pleasure

waking up in a happier mood

and knowing the day

will be good despite

any problems that should occur

When tact is required

and you want to be honest

You have to find a way to do both

Telling a child

that Santa won’t be coming

to leave them a present

is something they refuse to believe.

Still, you try to prepare them

and make do with the little you have.

Christmas is a time for family

and when your beliefs never included

the jolly fat guy

it is hard to be respectful for your child.

 

At first I thought it was cute

She would always be by my side

She would watch over me

standing vigilant against others

she did not like

Then it was mildly aggressive behaviour

whenever they came near me

Now it is full blown attacks

and the other cats are afraid of her

It could be because of the medicine

but I don’t think so

 

 

Integration back into the household is slow

Cautious that things might erupt

She was confined away for three days

To ensure the medicine had time

to allow her to heal.

Now it is mainly to watch the other cats

Definitely a treat

Handfuls or one at a time

Calories, who cares!

Salty, sweet, nutty goodness.

Crunchy and delicious.

It is a good snack

but for dinner

It is a lifetime commitment

To them.

They will love you unconditionally

and in return

you provide them with the necessities.

Even when they get hurt

or fall sick

care is to be taken.
