They hurt.
They incapacitate.
They last.
They can be invisible.
Healing will come.
But only if you have
the support needed.
Doctors can diagnose an injury,
but it is the ones who nurse
you back to health
that matter the most!

A jump from behind a corner.
A shriek of surprise.
Racing away giggling.
Footsteps running down the hall.
Tackled to the ground.
Cries of laughter peel through the house.
Questions arise concerning your purpose.
Some know immediately what they are meant to do.
Others will never know.
I still search for mine.
Though I know my impact will not be lessened
just because I know not why I am here.
Where this came from
I don’t know
It took my by surprise.
A pleasant surprise?
I’ll let you know
when I’m done!
Rebellious.
Not Understood.
Vying for independence.
Wanting equality.
Struggling for identity.
Whose to say
Who is wrong?
Some things
can only be learned
the hard way.
Some do not
know how to read
another person’s body language.
It is hard.
It took me years.
My kids are doomed
to repeat my mistakes.
Temperatures drop.
Windchill factor.
Blankets piled high.
Bundle up.
Brave the outside
Only by necessity.
Today is a day
for cuddling with the cats
curled up on the couch
with hot beverages.
Small apartment.
Twelve or
Fifteen kids.
Cats.
Six of them.
The overwhelming desire
of needing to get out of there!
Searching the skies.
Answers needed.
Decision hard to come.
Frustration builds.
The skies do not answer.
Prayers feel powerless.
Yet instinct tells me.
My computer is wrong!
It makes me happy
to watch them play.
Running around
chasing each other.
The younger accepting the older.
The older happy to be included.
All my kittens are adorable!
