The Needy

The Demanding ones are fed first.

The Quiet ones can be forgotten often.

The Desperate ones are killed.

The Friendly ones do not like to cause trouble.

The Scammers only know how to take care of themselves.

The ones we never see are the ones right in front of us.

Because we too can be the needy ones.

Decline of Civilization

Just one little tweet.

A message about the lies.

Claims of truth insisted.

A Dictatorship aimed for.

Is my life in danger?

For suggesting his sins?

Will the dark days ahead

be ones I get to see

behind the cell bars

of the prison camps?

My fellow prisoners

taste the freedom

of how things

are great again!

My Hope

I hope the future is brighter.

That the children can inherit a better world.

One where the people who hurt you are gone.

A world of peace and sustainability.

Wars are meaningless and useless.

To imagine a world where only ambitions push you.

Not the bully on the playground…

Wait, did I just describe Star Trek?

Who are the Followers?

Does anybody read this?

Do actual people listen to my ramblings?

Am I merely shouting out to a blind world?

To those who are deaf to the misfortunes of others?

Or am I merely cognizant of the ones who talk back to me?

We all want recognition

Some are more private than others.

This has been a public service announcement.

Selfish I Am.

Am I all there is?

Does anyone else exist

except to amuse me?

Give me the time to see the world

and I choose to watch the videos.

Formulas may exist to show us the universe

and instead I sit comfortably in my chair.

Selfish I am.

Sunday Driver

The freedom of going

wherever the road may take you.

Not caring about where you will end up.

A fantasy in the making.

Driving and just enjoying the scenery.

It sounds so relaxing.

Too bad I would be the driver

and not the whiney passengers

wondering if we have arrived

and if there’ll be free WiFi.

The Mix

The heat in your cheeks

when nothing is happening.

You are tired

but unwilling to not do something.

Anything.

Watch a video.

Play a game.

Anything but move.

And so your hands wander

over the keys and you fall asleep

at your keyboard.

Mind Tricks

That state of being

where you only think you know.

Did I go to the fridge for something?

What’s in the cupboard?

Where did I leave it?

Who’s here dear?

How am I going to get home?

When is dinner?

Understand I am always right!

Can I go now?

Mundane Pleasures

A cup of coffee in the morning.

Watching the kittens play.

A walk with a friend.

Telling someone you love them.

Hearing the birds sing.

The quiet before everyone else gets up.

Not hearing any sirens going off.

Knowing I still have the use of my hands.

Creating something beautiful.

The smile from someone special.
