I always ask for the bad first
so that the good news
can hopefully cheer me up.
Some days
I don’t get the choice
and the bad is delivered in the middle
of something good.
Like my weekend.
Sigh.
I always ask for the bad first
so that the good news
can hopefully cheer me up.
Some days
I don’t get the choice
and the bad is delivered in the middle
of something good.
Like my weekend.
Sigh.
So easy to make.
First one.
Then another.
Soon they tumble together.
Compounded, Multiplied
Growing bigger than you would like.
Stopping the first one
doesn’t mean the second would not happen.
Soon, indecision prevents you from choosing
and the bad decisions just happen.
Default style.
All too familiar.
Makes you wonder
Who is the next victim?
Did they get out of the fire alive?
Was the hospital not able to take them?
Then there is the praying
that they never need to come to your place.
Being open about what happened.
Doing the hard thing when speaking up.
Letting others know what was wrong.
Working towards what is right.
Fighting the harm previously done.
Spending time watching the new world run.
Loving yourself because you deserve it.
Helping those who have no voice.
Changing the perspective of injustice.
Believing the victims and the truth.
Advocating because only you can do it.
Things need to get done.
Dishes washed.
Breakfast eaten.
Children to school.
Getting to work.
Doing the jobs.
Yet all I am doing is surfing the internet.
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow I will be productive.
You can take it on faith
That what was meant to be
was meant to be.
Or look at the facts
and determine
if what you have been told
is in fact the case.
We are emotional creatures
and no fault is given
when logic is not always used.
Trusting your gut
and trusting the science
are not always on the same page.
Sleeping in
Feels delicious
Coffee mug steaming
Sipping slowly
Sitting outdoors
Listening to the birds
Watching the cats play
Sometimes life is good
It is good to feel the sun again.
Walking in among the houses.
Seeing neighbours after months of isolation.
Normal is never going to be seen again
but a sense of normalcy may just happen.
Enjoy the warm weather
and look after each other
as the world still reels in pain.
Stepping on your finger
On purpose.
Getting a new vehicle
that is older than the previous one.
Filing for divorce
after proposing to the future spouse.
Faking the smile
So that the world does not see the pain.
Clocking your steps
while sitting.
Meeting virtually
since face to face is forbidden.
Stubbed toe
Opened door
Bruised hip
Cat Scratch
Mosquito bite
Worst One
Careless Remark
